图书馆核心价值是图书馆人共同的职业理想和职业基石,具有价值观层面的意义,其主体是图书馆职业;图书馆核心价值具有恒定性、独特性、统摄性、理想性等特征,核心价值特征可以作为筛选和确定图书馆核心价值的切入点或标准;基于核心价值特征的分析,得出知识与信息自由是普世性的图书馆核心价值;图书馆核心价值在当代中国语境下需要具体化和发展;保存人类记录、为社会提供服务、教育与学习等是普世性的图书馆核心职能;不同类型的图书馆或相同类型的图书馆在不同的历史阶段具有不同的核心职能。

The core value of the library is librians＇ common occupational and professional ideal cornerstone, with significances in the value levels, and library profession is its main body. Library core value has the characteristics of lasting, unique, authoritative, ideal, and so on. The characteristics of core value can be regarded as a screening and entry point of the library core value. According to the characteristics of core value, knowledge and information freedom is the common one. Moreover, it should be embodied and developed in contemporary chinese context. Storaying of human records, providing serviles,education and learning are the universal core functions which can be applied to. However, the different types of library or the same types of library in different historical periods have different core functions.
