Portico于2005年成型并启动。此计划主要是保存电子形式的学术文献,通过对典藏电子资源开展收费模式的经营,建立长久的典藏机制。Portico的电子期刊归档方案是针对出版商电子资源文档的保存,其规范化文档工作重点在于确保资料未来的有效性和可索取性。目前,Portico的商业模式已经建立,而这种商业模式不但切中了图书馆的需求,而且也符合出版社的意愿。

Portico was exploited and started in 2005. It aims at reserving electronic academic literature, and constructing long-term preservation through charging for electronic resources preservation. The electronic journals archiving mode of Portico is the long-term preservation for publishers＇ electronic resources. The importance of the archiving work is ensuring the literature available and accessible in the future. The business mode of the Portico has been established, and it satisfies the need of library and the will of publishers.
