On the basis of study of the history, functions and practical effects of the National Science Fundation System of China (NSFSC), it is verified that the NSFSC has been playing an important role in optimizing the key factors of knowledge production,creating new concepts and new theories, forming interdisciplinary and new subjects, and publishing major scientific works. The deep effects of the system on the intellectual system structure are summarized.
