As a great writer in both the 19th century and the 20th century, Thomas Hardy is not only well-known throughout the Great Britain, but also world-famous. In TESS of the D;URBERVILLES, he combined realism, symbolism, naturalism with consciousness of native land as an organic whole, and offered us a vivid rural life. The paper is intended to analyze his unique writing skills to reveal the special artistic charm and appeal in his novel.
