As the criterion - referenced language test, College English Test Band 4＆6 has performed important positive functions in College English teaching such as academic evaluation, teaching diagnose and feedback, encouraging study for twenty years. On the other hand, with the increase of examination scale and the extension of social influence, it brought about some drawbacks such as the dissimilation of its examination function. Nowadays the new reform of College English Test is beneficial to guide the society, colleges and universities to make more rational use of the examination evaluation method, and to serve College English teaching and talents cultivation.
