On the Ideal World In Horkheimer's Critical Theory

Horkheimer＇ s critical theory contains two dimensions. One is on the basic living conditions of human beings, the other is on their poetic existence. Both of them base themselves on criticizing and negating the standing society. Horkheimer yearns for the ideal world. In Horkheimer＇ s critical theory, the ideal world is re- garded as the ideal reality world, the artistic world and the religious world respectively. The ideal world is the key to the understanding of Horkheimer＇s critical theory.
