Today most presses are operating with fabrics that are too heavy for the application and most mills lack adequate dewatering systems; strict nip and vacuum dewatering can greatly improve press performance Optimising the entire nip system is essential for maximising the dewatering capability of a press. Nip dewatering is one important factor in this, and can result in higher press solids and reduced steam consumption. However, other factors, including improved vacuum levels, are also needed to produce the hiahest possible dry content exitina the press.
