Objective To observe the influence of different skin preparation methods (shaving or non-shaving) on incisional wound infection. Methods One thousand and two hundred patients who were performed operations of abdomen and other sparsely-hair sites were divided into shaving and non-shaving group, each group were 600 patients. The occurrence of incisional wound infection in two groups were analysed statistically. Results The infection rate in shaving and non-shaving group was 6.33% (38 cases) and 5. 17% (31 cases) respectively, there was no significant difference in incisional wound infection rate ative shaving before operations of abdomen between two groups. Conclusion It is unnecessary to perform pre-oper- and sparsely-hair sites.
