Safe drinking water supply in rural areas of Zhuanglang County: experiences and lessens learned

庄浪县通过科学规划,分流域整乡镇集中连片建设农村饮水安全工程,工程规模大,水源有保障,成本低、收费低。在施工中,采用远距离自流引水、异地调水、集中供水等措施,降低了用水成本,提高了水资源利用效率。在建设资金设有落实的情况下,采用借、贷、垫等办法,先干后补,为立项争取了主动。同时,坚持建管并重,以建保管,保障了饮水工程经营管护良性发展。

Based on scientific planning, drinking water facilities of townships are integrated in the Zhuanglang County, which has enlarged the engineering scale with more reliable water sources and low cost and water charges. During the construction, long-distance water diversion by gravity is adopted for centralized treatment, reducing the cost and water use efficiency. The sources of financing is collected through borrowing and debt and prepaid by self-raising funds for accelerating construction. Equal emphasis is placed on construction and management for ensuring a sound operation of water utilities.
