Idioms are commonly used to set phrases in a given language. This paper analyzes the influence of English and Chinese culture upon their languages from the following aspects： number, geographical condition, social customs, historical background, and religious belief, etc.. These aspects also restrict the formation of English idioms and Chinese idioms. Therefore, acquiring information of different cultures will be the basis of understanding idioms correctly and thoroughly.
