Joseph Heller, an representative of "Black Humor", is one of the greatest writer in contemporary America. In his masterpiece Catch-22, Heller provides us a panorama of American society after the war: the mad, absurd and disorder waste land. By using the center symbol "the catch-22", he discloses a corruptive American reality, the great pains the ordinary people suffered, the dehumanization of all contemporary institutions and the distorted human nature as well. With the "anti-traditional" narrative skills in Catch-22, Heller fully displays the appeal of "Black Humor". This essay makes a brief comment on the three main narrative features of this work fragmentation, anti-traditional narrative time and repetition to display its artistic attraction and values.
