摘要
《罗密欧与朱丽叶》和《梁山伯与祝英台》同属爱情悲剧,然而由于两部作品处于不同的国度和时代,它们在女主人公性格的塑造方面呈现出明显差异。朱丽叶是人文主义思想的产物,在她身上体现了张扬个性、追求自由等思想;而祝英台则保守、内敛,她只是中国传统封建礼教的牺牲品。很明显,这两个人物性格的巨大差异来源于两部悲剧不同的中西文化背景。
Romeo and Juliet and Butterfly Lovers both are love tragedies. However, because of different nations and times they are situated in, they appear quite differently in heroines＇ character creation. Juliet is a product of humane thoughts, and the author endows her with personality and pursuit of freedom, while Zhu Yingtai is conservative and shy and she is a victim of traditional Chinese feudal conventions. Obviously their character differentiation originates from different cultural background in East and West.
