11~13世纪卫藏与波罗艺术有关的佛教艺术明显存在两种风格:一是波罗艺术风格,这种艺术风格受到东印度波罗王朝佛教艺术的影响,可能在"前弘期"就已经存在,并且于"后弘期"初期再次进入卫藏,传入的路线也许不只一条,这种艺术风格一直延续到13世纪初期;另一种艺术风格形成于卫藏地区,主要受到西域、中亚佛教艺术的影响,被称为中亚——波罗风格,是通过于阗的艺术家或者是在来自中亚的艺术家的参与下完成的,在其传入卫藏的过程中西藏西部地区曾经起到过重要的中转作用。
There were two kinds of Buddhist art styles in Central-Tibet from11^th to 13^th century. One was the Indian- Nepal style originated in east India and spread to Central- Tibetan via Nepal; the other style formed in the west area of Tibet that was influenced by the Central- Asian art, so was called Central- Asia and Polo style. And the artists from Khotan or Central- Asia played an important role during the forming of this style. It was spread to the west area of Tibet at first and then to the Central-Tibetan from the West-Tibet.
