Wang Xifeng, one of the main characters in A Dream of the Red Mansionr, and Cao Qiqiao, a character in the novel Golden Lock, are both women with emasculate subversive color. They subsisted in the tough patriarchal society with male in the supremacy position. They found shelter in wealth and power and rebelled against the male-centered community with their sexual passion. But, they both submitted to the authority of the male-dominated society and eventually became the sacrificial offerings of that society.
