A Respectable Woman is one of Kate Chopin＇s best short novels. Through a writing style of contrast and irony, Chopin describes the process of the heroine＇s attitude change and emotion change, depicting the painful journey to the wakening of women＇s consciousness in the society of male chauvinism. The process and method that the heroine Mrs. Baroda copes with her affair is of practical significance to Chinese readers in contemporary China.
