世界各国大学的发展历史已经证实,自由与独立是大学存在与发展的根本。我们对大学的自由却仍然有诸多误读。大学的自由与独立首先是国家的需要,这一点是否为政府所意识到,很大程度上关系着中国高等教育整体上能否进入世界先进水平。

The history of the development of the universities all over the world has already proved that freedom and independence are basic for the existence and development of a university. However, we still have many misunderstandings on the freedom of a university. The freedom and independence of a university is firstly the need of a state. Whether the government is conscious of it has an important bearing on the possibility that China＇s higher education comes up to the advanced world standards.
