This article is intended to explore the British novelist D. H. Lawrence＇s modernist perspective. It not only dwells upon Lawrence＇s subtle relationship with the modernist movement, but also discusses the similarities and differences between him and other modernists in the concept of writing. Through the examination of his four major novels, the article analyses his determined move from realism to modernism and demonstrates his independent and self-conscious modernist spirit during social transformation.
