在知识经济和经济全球化的时代背景下,积极开展高等教育的国际交流与合作是高等教育实现改革与发展、提高办学水平、层次和实现文化的对等交流使然。留学生教育作为国际交流与合作的重要内容,在当今高等教育发展进程中迎来了千载难逢的历史机遇,同时也面临着激烈的竞争与严峻的挑战。对留学生教育的现状及其发展前景进行分析,并就对外汉语教学在这一进程中的地位与作用,以及留学生教育的可持续发展的可能性和必要性作初步探讨,提出对策和建议。

In an era of knowledge economy and economic globalization, international exchange and cooperation has played an active role in higher education reform and development, school operation and cultural exchanges promotion. International education, an important part of international exchange and cooperation, has now encountered a golden opportunity as well as fierce competitions and great challenges. This paper aims to analyze the present situation and future prospect of international education, and make a tentative discussion about the role of Chinese teaching for non-Chinese speakers and the possibility and necessity of the sustainable development of international education, based on which countermeasures and suggestions are given.
