It has been the consistent focus of researchers on the improvement of the effectiveness of headteacher training. The author holds that in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of the current headteacher training, the decisive measure is for headteachers to establish their own directions of self- improvement during the process of professional development. Headteachers＇ directions of self-improvement are closely in line with the regular pattern of the headteacher professional development, and which soon after being established, will be of fundamental impact on some critical issues of headteacher training such as the aim, the function and the module as well as the training effectiveness.
