从理论层面探讨了美国卡内基教育基金会的分类法和国际教育标准分类法;从实践层面梳理了国外私立高等教育特别是美国、日本、韩国等国私立高等教育的类型定位,对我国发展民办高等教育具有一定启示:立足适应性,根据社会发展客观要求对民办高校进行定位;追求多样化,根据高等教育对民办高校的要求进行定位;坚持特色化,根据自身的发展特点进行定位。

Have probed into the classification of American Carnegie educational foundation and world education standard classifica- tion from the theory aspect ;From practise aspect comb foreign private higher education especially U. S. A. ,Japan,S. Korea, etc. country private type of higher education, there is a great enlightenment to dewlop our country non-governmental higher education. Base on a-＇ daptability,require objectively according to the social development that makes a reservation to the non-governmental university; Pursue the diversification, make a reservation according to the requisition for non-governmental university of higher education ; Insist on specializing, carry on the localization according to one＇s own development characteristic.
