Politeness is a social phenomenon and also a cultural phenomenon. It is like a mirror and reflects various aspects of the society and the culture. This paper begins with the Politeness Principle between English and Chinese Language, and analyzes similarities and differences. Then it explores the deep-rooted cultural reasons for the differences, which are advantageous in cross-culture communication.
