历史唯物主义是由马克思与恩格斯共同创立的。在这一过程中,恩格斯不仅以他独特的道路和方法对马克思的思想发展起到了重要的启发、推动作用,而且还独立探索并阐述了历史唯物主义的部分重要原理。但不能因此否认马克思在历史唯物主义创立中的主导地位,广松涉的"恩格斯主导说"错误地理解了这一关系。"恩格斯主导说"提醒我们要客观公正地评价恩格斯。

Histofical Materialism was founded together by Marx and Engels. In the founding of Historical Materialism, Engels not only has an important enlightening and promotion effect on Marx by his unique road and method, but also exploration and outlines some important and basic theories of Historical Materialism independently. But we cannot deny the leading role of Marx in the foundation of Historical Materialism. Hiromatsu＇s theory of ＂the leading role of Engels＂ is a wrong way to understand the function of Marx and Engels in the foundation of Historical Materialism. Theory of ＂the leading role of Engels＂ reminds us to evaluate Engels impartially and objectively.
