The cellular biology of erythropoietin and its effects on cerebral ischemia

摘要 促红细胞生成素(EPO)在调节红细胞生成中发挥重要作用,长期以来广泛用于肾性贫血的治疗。近年来研究证实EPO亦具有神经营养、神经保护和调节胚胎发育的作用,其机制可能与直接抑制神经元凋亡和间接促进血管生长及新生血管的形成有关。 Erythropoietin(EPO) plays a crucial role in the regulation of hematopoiesis and has been used extensively in the management of uremic anemia. Recent studies have brought to light a positive effect of EPO in neuronal nutrition, neuroprotection and regulating embryo development. The patho-physiological mechanism of EPO may be related to directly protecting neuronal cell from apoptosis and indirectly facilitating angiogenesis and neovascularization.
