All the main functions of Frankfurt Airport＇s new Terminal 2 are combined under a distinctively shaped roof： Check-in, departures, arrivals, loading zone and a passenger transfer system. Spanning 65 meters in every direction In the broad, lightweight roof frame is supported on 20 large columns in which are integrated vertical communications giving access to vadous levels within th terminal. In designing the space emphasis was laid on transparence and on claritiy of form. All-round glazing ensures high levels of natural daylighting and also plays a positive role in passenger orientation. A few carefully chosen materials accentuate the character of frame, granite for the core areas and floors, glass and metal for facades and wall cladding.
