On the Causes of the Revivalism in Zhao Mengfu's Painting and Calligraphy

书画家赵孟頫推行"复古主义"的主要原因:(1)忽必烈灭南宋,使拥有相对先进的汉人无论是民族自尊心还是人格精神,都受到了极大的打击,艺术上的回归为其怀旧情绪和精神抚慰疏通了渠道;(2)是书法艺术发展的历史与现实的必然结果;(3)忧愁隐讳的个性心理。

This paper analyzes the main causes of Zhao Mengfu＇ s implementation of revivalism as follows - （ 1 ） Kublai Khan＇ s annihilation of South Song Dynasty was a huge blow to the comparatively advanced Han people, whether in their nationality pride, cultural mentality or personality spirit, while the artistic regTession dredged the channel of reminiscence and appeasement; （2） It is the combination of the history and reality of calligraphy development. （3） It shows the individual mentality of grief and diffidence.
