Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a famous novel by the well-known American novelist Mark Twain. One of the main features of this novel is the use of colloquial language, dialects and black English, especially the use of black English to vividly describe one of the main characters-Jim. Black English is a kind of language variety with its systematic phonological and grammatical features, which puts a great challenge to translators. How to reproduce the features and functions of Black English in translation is a question unresolved. This paper, based on the analysis of three Chinese versions of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, aims to give a tentative study on the translation of Black English into Chinese.
