Traditional Chinese herbal drug has a long history dating back to thousands of years. Recently, there has been increasing interest worldwide in the use of Chinese herbal drugs for the prevention and treatment of various illnesses. Extraction and isolation techniques for active ingredients of Chinese herbal drugs were reported in the paper.
