On the Multiple Origins of the Yue Dialect

近年来,粤语形成于古广信一带的观点颇吸引人,其中以叶国泉、罗康宁的"西江流域文化起源说"最有影响。但是,古广信为岭南早期的政治、文化中心,并不等于粤语起源于西江流域。本文首先对粤语的定义进行严格解释,从历史及人口迁移等角度阐述粤语文化的混杂性和广东汉人来源的多层次性,最后从现实的粤语语言特点论证粤语不可能单一来源于西江流域。

In recent years,the view points that the Yue dialect was formed originally around ancient Guangxin abstract a lot of people's attention.Among them,Mr.Ye Guoquan and Mr.Luo Kangning's theory of cultural origin around the areas of Xijiang River has greatest influence.However,though ancient Guangxin is the earliest political and cultural center at the south of the five ridges,it does not means that the Yue dialect must origin from the area of the Xijiang River.So,the paper defines the Yue dialect first,and then proves from multiple dimensions that the Yue dialect could not origin from a single place of the Xijiang River area.
