In his social conflict theory, Lewis Coser distinguished the diversity between conflict and hostilities and analysed the type of society conflict. He thought that social conflict was a sign of stability. He elaborated on the functions of social conflict： Conflict strengthened the internal conflict reunion, and helped integrate groups; Conflict was beneficial to maintaining the group border; Conflict formed one kind of balance mechanism, promoting the integration and improvement of the social structure.
