In Recitatif, Toni Morrison uncovered the dilemma, struggle and initiation of modem African-American when they were facing the relation between their racial history and current situation. Through excavation of Roberta, this paper reveals African - American lost - awakening - initiation experiences when meeting racial problems and on the read of self - seeking, and discovers Morrison＇s hope for a new equal fraternal racial relationship.
