By means of listing and contrasting several poems, the article mainly aims to probe into the use of ＂empathy＂ in English poetry. Empathy, widely used, is of prominent role in poetry. By virtue of personification, metaphor, simile and so on, natural scenes are animated and person- nified,strengthening language expressiveness and persuasiveness and enriching the poetry＇s connotations to make sceneries and emotion closely integrated.
