《Sister Carrie》tells a story about a pretty country girl who＇s not satisfied with the simple country life and went to make a living in Chicago, where she turned out to be a famous actress. This thesis carries out an artistic analysis of the heroine from two characteristic angles of Theodore Dreiser--Mechanic Naturalism and Consumption Culture. In the course of the analysis, the theory of the feminist movement was also mentioned,with the intention of illustrating the miserable experience of the heroine＇s spiritual loss, struggle and success in the relation between society,nature, culture and human beings.
