As a new type functional material, Magnesium borate whisker has being used in many fields such as plastic, metal, alloy, ceramic, compound materials, etc. The present domestic and foreign development state of the preparation and application of magnesium borate whisker were systematically reviewed. The defects and disadvantages appeared in current synthesis methods were compared and analyzed in detail, and the preparation of magnesium borate whisker was emphatically described. At last, in order to solve the current existing problems of the magnesium borate whisker in preparation, post-treated and application, the development trend was put forward.
