With special reference to the MS Office Word＇s default global template （Normal. dot） developed by the author, this paper reports an empirical study of the development of Word＇s default global template and the use of the style sheets, macros, and Autotexts in this template to complete some conventional tasks in teaching and researching languages and translation.
