Contrast of sentence patterns between English and Chinese

英汉两种语言属于不同的语系,在句型结构方面存在着显著差异,对比发现这些差异,并探求其背后原因,有助于我们加深对这两种语言的理解,也有助于提高译者在英汉互译中的对比转换意识。

English and Chinese belong to different language systems, resulting in their great differences in sentence patterns. Finding out these differences through contrast can deepen our understanding of them and enhance our transferring consciousness in translation. This paper attempts to discuss the differences from perspective of basic sentence characteristics, basic sentence structure and roles of punctuation in sentence marking.
