Tough Guy's Gentle Heartedness——Appreciative Remarks on "A Farewell to Arms"

海明威的作品以写"硬汉"著称,其故事发生的背景往往是残酷的战争或无情的自然:战争摧毁了一切,包括生命和爱情,而硬汉主人公却顽强地生活下去;与自然的斗争也往往以惨败而告终,而硬汉们的精神却永远不会被打垮。然而,作为一名人文作家,其作品"柔"的一面却备受忽视。本文就尝试以《永别了,武器》为例,解读和评析海明威作品中柔情的一面。

Hemingway is famous for his ＂tough guy＂. The background of his stories is always the brutal war or the ruthless nature ： though the war destroyed everything, including the life and love, the hero lives on bravely; and though the fight against the nature is always failure , the spirit of the hero can never be destroyed. But as a humanist writer, the mildness in his works is neglected. This article tries to give some analysis about this aspect, and takes A Farewell to Arms for example
