A Study on the Saying Style by Liu Xiang

Liu Xiang, a scholar in the West-Han Dynasty, wrote many narrative works with the style of ＂ say＂. He also created the school of ＂novelist＂ later on. All this indicates that Liu had his own understanding of ＂saying style＂. Liu~ views on saying style are that the contents of ＂saying style＂ are arguments and the charac- teristics are about emotion, figurativeness, and reasoning. The style influences the ＂novelists＂, They have im- portant impact on the development of the ＂say style＂ and on the novel itself.
