An Analysis of the Translation Theory of André Lefevere

传统翻译学主要研究语言转换和文本分析,勒菲弗尔和巴斯内特开启的"文化转向"无疑为翻译研究拓宽了视野,全面考察翻译与意识形态、诗学和权力关系等之间的关系。文章概括了勒菲弗尔基本理论观点,分析了其在突破传统翻译研究基础上带来的重大意义,并在"译之为译"的层面做出理论上的反思。

Traditional translation studies mainly focus on the text analysis and regard translation merely as transcoding. The＂ cultural turn＂ initiated by André Lefevere and Sasan Bassnett obviously expands the field of translation studies in that it examines translation in a larger context, probing into its connections with ideology, poetics and power relations. The paper sums up the main tenets of Lefevere, and then analyses their breakthrough in translation theory accordingly. Nevertheless, some reflections upon the nature of translation still worthy of our attention and further research.
