西方修辞学从一开始就开始注意到除"情"、"理"之外,修辞人格即修辞者通过确立自己相对于受众的独有的信用和权威,对受众进行说服。总统就职演说辞做为身份地位特殊的人,运用隐形的特殊修辞资源进行演说,运用修辞人格方面具有相当代表性。本文仅通过美国总统布什第二次就职演说辞中应用到的特殊修辞资源——修辞人格展开简短分析,以此展示修辞人格的不同修辞力量。

Besides pathos and Logos, Ethos, with which addressers persuade the addressees through establishing exclusive credit and power, which has been early realized by western rhetor. The president, as the one of particular social position, extends the speeches with some invisible rhetorical resource, such as the typical ＂Ethos＂. This paper will show some totally different rhetorical power by briefly analyzing the Ethos in Bush＇s second inauguration speech.
