中国是一个文明古国,而且长期以农立国,有着悠久的重农传统,因而农业较为发达,农学著作非常丰富。反映到目录学上,历代目录学家对农书都十分重视,不仅单独为其设类,有的还细分子目,详加著录,从而为后人搜求、研究古代农学文献提供了大量珍贵的资料。自20世纪以来,已有不少学者致力于古代农书的挖掘、整理工作,在农学史研究方面取得了不少成就。毛骸、王毓瑚、胡道静、犁播及日人天野元之助等广泛搜集古代农书的书目和篇目,先后编纂出版了几部农学文献专科目录。本文是在前人研究的基础上,从目录学史的角度,专门探讨在中国古代各种书目中农书的归类及著录情况。
