The Formation and Development of Defence Theory

攻与守是作战过程中一对最基本的矛盾,防御理论在中国传统兵学中占据着十分重要的地位,是其必要的组成部分。防御理论的形成和成熟,相对滞后于进攻理论。它萌芽于春秋时期,形成于战国时期,而在宋、明两代得到进一步的完善。

Attack and defence is a set of basic contradiction in military process. Defence theory holds a significant position in Chinese traditional military science and is an essential component. Comparatively speaking,the formation and mature of defence theory is lagging behind that of attack theory. It began in the Spring and Autumn Period,was formed in the Warring States Period and developed further in Song and Ming Dynasties.
