Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of Smad 7,Smurf 1 and Smurf 2 in condyloma acuminatum, which are negative regulators in TGF-β signaling. Methods: EliVisionTM plus immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the distribution and expression of Smad 7, Smurf 1 and Smurf 2 in condyloma acuminatum and normal control skin. Results: The expression of Smad 7, Smurf 1 and Smurf 2 in the epidermis of condyloma acuminatum was significantly up-regulated in comparison with that in normal control skin. Conclusions: The expression of Smad 7, Smurf 1 and Smurf 2 is up-regulated in the epidermis of condyloma acuminatum, which might contribute to the formation and progression of aberrant epidermal hyperplasia in condyloma acuminatum via blocking TGF-β signaling pathway.
