Objective: To investigate the expression of mCD14 on peripheral blood leukocytes and the plasma level of sCD14 in patients with psoriasis vulgaris, and explore the relationship between the activation of endotoxin signal transduction pathway and the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Methods: The expression of mCD14 on peripheral blood leukocytes and the plasma level of sCD14 in patients with psoriasis vulgaris were determined by flow cytometry and ELISA, respectively. Results: The mCD14 expression of peripheral blood leukocytes and the plasma level of sCD14 in patients were significantly increased compared with those in the healthy controls (P〈 0.05). Conclusion: The endotoxin produced by Gram negative bacteria causes the increase of the levels of mCD14 and sCD14 in patients with psoriasis, which is probably related to the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
