"Wu -er" is a pipe musical instrument of the Wa nationality used at the funerals. Under the influence of animism, "Wu- er" becomes a symbol of the eminent position of the dead. In their daily life the Wa people stand in awe of "Wu - er" but its music expresses some lyrical and cheerful features. Thus, the music of "Wu - er" embodies the Wa' s worship of nature and their objective understanding of death.
