Objective : To observe the affect of TCM psychotherapy on the level of T - lymphocyte subsets and cell factor IL - 2 in patients with Recrudescent Genital Herpes (RGH). Methods : We conducted a double - blind, randomized paired study including 120 RGH patients who were dividedinto two groups, 60 subjects each group, For both groups, 2 weeks before the treatment ,we measured the level of peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets and serum IL -2, All subjects were given regular antivirus western medicine, and the details on one of the two groups were sent to the doctors responsible for TCM psychotherapy, who contacted this group of patients and arranged them to receive weekly TCM psychotherapy for 12 weeks. Two weeks after the treatment, we measured the level of peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets and serum IL - 2 again, After the study, we submited the data to the professional statistician for statistics, comparison and analysis. At last,we unblinded the patients, Results :For the group receiving TCM psychotherapy, patients after treatment had increased percents of CD3^+ and CD4^+ cells ( T lymphocyte) and increased ratio of CD4^+ /CD8 ^+, decreased percent of CD8^+ cells ( P 〈 0. 001 ), and higher level of serum IL - 2 ( P 〈 0.001 ) ;for the group only receiving western medicine, the above indicators had no significant change before and after treatment, Conclusion :TCM psychotherapy obviously improves and promotes the cell - mediated immune response in the treatment of RGH.
