摘要
美国工程硕士教育按教育对象分类,可分为以本科应届生、科学硕士应届生和在职工程技术人员为招生对象三个层次;按教育的取向分类,可分为工程科学教育、从业前教育和职业教育等不同的梯次。多数专业在传统的工程领域内开办,但越来越多的专业具有跨学科性质,由多个学科联合开办。专业的教育重点针对学生的需求,越是实践性的专业对课程学习的要求越高。
This study analyses the results of a new online investigation of master of engineering programmes in the United State. The students comprise graduates from undergraduate and M. Sc. programmes, and professionals in employment. According to the nature of the programmes, they are research-oriented, course-work oriented and practically oriented; and they are engineering science pro- grammes, pre-job training and on-job professional training. Most programms are in conventional engineering fields, usually operated within a single academic department, while increasingly more programmes in new fields are inter-disciplinary collaborations. Teaching aims to serve the students' need, the more practically oriented the course, the stronger the students' need.
