The Aestheticism of Seeking the Truth and the National Traits of the Narrative Art of Chinese Classical Fiction

史传是孕育中国古典小说的母体,源于史传"实录"观念的尚实审美心理造就了中国古典小说许多富于民族特色的叙事艺术形式。古典小说对直白式心理描写的极力排斥、对第一人称叙事的刻意规避,以及在对故事真实性的执著追求中所表现出来的强烈时间意识和叙述过程中频频出现的非情节性解释、说明等,富于民族特色的叙事艺术特征,都是尚实审美观念对古典小说家长期浸润的结果。

The historieal biography is the parent of Chinese classical fiction and the aesthetic psychology of seeking for the truth originated from the ＂real reeord＂ in the historical biography causes Chinese classical fiction to have many forms of narrative arts rieh in national traits. Classieal fictions repelled direet portrayal of psychology, avoided first person narration purposefully, showed strong time eonsciousness in seeking the truth of the stories eonsistently and frequently gave non-plot explanations in the narrating process, which are all the characteristics of narrative art rich in national traits. This is the result of the long time infiltration of the aesthetic conception of seeking the truth into classical novelists.
