The Open Ideology and Foreign Countries' History Study in Yuan Dynasty

元朝辽阔的疆域使元帝国具有对外开放、四海为家的积极思想观念。元代中外交通的频繁,激发了中国学者、旅行家、商人对异域风情、不同文明的兴趣和向往,所以元代域外史的记载和著作非常丰富。对元代域外史的研究,又大大扩充了人们对域外地理概念的认识。元代域外史著述对域外社会制度、文化习俗、风土物产的描述,对中外文化交流、经济贸易的记载,开阔了国人的视野,反映了元代史学的世界性意识。

The vast territory of Yuan dynasty gives this empire an active influence to have open ideology and make their home wherever they are. With much more communication with foreign countries, Chinese scholars, travelers and businessmen are much more interested in different countries and their different civilizations, which could be seen in prolific writings on foreign countries＇history. These writings make studies on foreign countries in their social systems, cultural custom, natural conditions and products, culture and economic exchanges with China and so on. These writings greatly enlarge Chinese people＇s view and clearly show the world consciousness in the historiography of Yuan dynasty.
