Beginning with the purpose of hairiness measurement, the principle and characteristics of yarn hairiness test with Uster Tester 3 are introduced. It explains such terms as hairiness H, minimum and maximum hairiness, coefficient of variation of hairiness, etc. It also illustrates diagram of hairiness, spectrogram of hairiness, variance-length curve of hairiness, frequency distribution diagram of hairiness and their value for analysing the yarn surface structure.
