Based on the metaphoricity of ideational Englis.h idioms, the paper puts forth the principles on translating them into Chinese and elaborates their fundamental translation strategies. In the practice of translating ideational English idioms, translators should retain their metaphoricity and cultural features as well as their semantic meanings.
